Hearthline takes the family tree you already have, checks the lines in it against the historical records, and writes what holds up into a book your family will keep. Every fact in the book says how certain it is.
Built from your tree
You send the tree you have already built. We start by checking it, not by adding to it: which facts rest on a record, which rest on an index, and which rest on someone else's guess.
Checked against the records
We go to the census pages, church registers, probate files, land records and newspapers behind your tree, and we spend the most time on the few links your whole family story hangs on.
Honest about certainty
A fact we read on the original record is stated plainly. A fact from an index says so. A family story is told as a family story. Where the records run out, the book says where, and why.
What is in a Hearthline book
Each book walks your family back line by line, one surname at a time, from the people you knew to the people the records remember. It tells where each line came from, how it traveled, and who its people were, and it ends each line where the paper ends.
Around that story the book carries a pedigree chart, a timeline of your family against the history of its time, a Family Case File that lists every open question and what would answer it, the family legends we checked where there are legends to check, and Walking the Lines, a guide to the places your family lived that you can still visit.
Every book comes with its Living Edition: a private website for your family, behind a sign-in, where relatives can read the book and see the sources behind it.
